Pro Golfers All Tied Up at Yamba

IT was not all beer and skittles for the field of professional golfers and amateurs who gathered at Yamba in pursuit of $10,000 in prize money on offer.

A sunny spring day with light wind provided perfect conditions for the fourth Yamba Pro-Am and the course was in excellent condition, but tough pin placements on greens that had been double cut and rolled made golf anything but easy for the 62 professionals who vied for $10,000 in prize money and 58 amateurs who accompanied them on the day.

The noon shotgun start enabled spectators to easily follow different groups and hopefully pick up a few tips to improve their game.

If they followed Brauley Andrews from Qld, Jason Ashcroft or Rudi Bezuidenhout from NSW they would have been bringing the winners home when these three pros tied for first with rounds of 68 four under the card and shared first prize of $3880.

Local pro Michael Brennan shared fourth place with Simon Bouvier, Rowan Best and Geoff Lound when they finished with 69. …
