A member of the "God Squad" Motorcycle Club was ordained as a Uniting Church minister in Lismore last week.

Garry Dronfield shared how incredibly moving that experience was for him - after years of listening to the voice of God and allowing the Church to test his call from God.

It's surprising how many ministers and pastors don't fit the typical stereotype so loved by so many. My own life experience includes some years as a 'Flying Padre' based in the far west of NSW; pastoring some rural and regional churches; driving express and tourist coaches; and for 15 years prior to taking up my current ministry with the Grafton Uniting Church, working for the Department of Lands in Grafton.

I consider myself a pretty down-to-earth sort of guy, who loves classic cars, motorcycles and flying aircraft. I also try to accept people for just who they are, and in return appreciate being accepted for who I am - not what people think I should be.

I'm married to Janine and we have two children and two grandchildren - all of whom we love dearly. …
