Bonnie Lass of the Big Voice

Article excerpt

WHEN Welsh songstress Bonnie Tyler does things - she always does them in a big way. In the 80s it was big hair and big ballads and now? Now it's still big ballads but it's also big tours of the world, big Christmas parties and the odd karaoke.

Her musical career started in a local talent show in 1969 - she performed Mary Hopkin's Those Were The Days and came second - winning a pound for her efforts. But even though the reward was small it was the victory that spurred her on.

She recorded her debut single, My My Honeycomb in 1975 using her stage name Sherene Davis and was talented spotted in 1976 singing in Swansea. …
