Valley Link to Cold Case Mystery; Forensic Evidence Found in Local Car

A YELLOW SUZUKI sedan located at a Grafton home 10 years ago frustratingly remains as one of the only clues police have in their search for Dorrigo woman Bernadette Donaldson, who disappeared mysteriously in 1998.

While police have been baffled by the case for a decade, they brought it back into the spotlight this week when they started a major forensic dig at Kalang on the outskirts of Bellingen.

So far police have not commented on why they started the new search, but they have confirmed they are looking for the skeletal remains of the missing Dorrigo woman.

Detective Senior Constable Pat Gleeson said recent inquiries led police to the site on the Kalang Road, which had previously been used by Bellingen Shire Council for the disposal of euthanased dogs from the pound.

"We are definitely going to uncover bones," Det Gleeson said.

"We will have the help of a specialist."

His colleague, Detective Senior Constable George Radmore, said although a week had been set aside for work at the site, police were hopeful of determining pretty quickly if human bones were present. …
