ROMANCE, excitement and a hint of playfulness will be on display at Grafton Regional Gallery this Sunday, but for once it won't be the art aiming to impress.

For the first time, chamber trio Nova Anglica will bring its unique interpretation of baroque music to the Clarence Valley with a program entitled Folly.

The Armidale-based group will recreate the sounds and nuances of 300 years ago using period instruments, including recorder, baroque violin and bass violin.

Friends of The Grafton Regional Gallery (FoGG) president Geoff Crispin said Folly would explore a range of composers from the period, from the playful Vivaldi to the exuberant melodies of Telemann.

"It will be romantic, present and enjoyable," he said.

"Most people will recognise something from the range."

He said the performance was part of an ongoing series of FoGG events raising money to support the gallery, and in particular, the prestigious Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA). …
