IF there was ever a time for shiny shoes it was Saturday when the TS Shropshire Naval Cadet Unit in Grafton had their annual inspection.

This year the cadets were inspected by Commander Michael Hickey, of HMAS PENGUIN.

The threat of rain moved the inspection inside, but despite the location change, Max Juett, secretary of the Clarence Valley National Servicemen's Association Sub-Branch (CVNSASB), said it went very well.

"Every year the naval cadets have a formal inspection and this year they looked very smart," Mr Juett said.

"The Commander gave a very glowing report of the whole unit," Mr Juett said.

After the inspection, Commander Hickey spoke with each cadet and then dismissed the parade.

While the cadets were changing, the Commander addressed the audience and said he was impressed with the standard of the cadets.

"He was also pleased to report that the state of the facilities was very good and were well staffed," Mr Juett said. …
