JADA Goes Back to School

Article excerpt

A delightful collaboration of works by some of the Clarence Valley's younger artists is on display at the Grafton Regional Gallery. Titled JADA Goes To School the exhibition was formed through the gallery's education outreach program, Gallery Goes To School. This year the program gained support through Connect Ed, an education grant program administered by the Museums and Galleries New South Wales and funded by Arts NSW.

Artworks from the Gallery's contemporary Australian drawing collection were taken to schools throughout the valley in third and fourth term this year. Schools participating in the program include Tucabia and Wooli preschools, Clarence Valley Anglican School, all the senior arts students from the Clarence Valley high schools and the Woodburn, Westlawn, Lawrence, Ulmarra, Glenreagh and Nymboida public schools.

The schools at Mulloway-Woolgoolga, Boambee, Dundurrabin, Cowper and Harwood Island are booked to participate by the end of this school year.

Since July this year the Gallery Goes To School outreach program has focussed on the gallery's drawing collection. This focus has produced the artworks on display in JADA Goes To School.
