Seminar to Tackle Issues Facing Game

THE current economic crisis is causing great concern for many people at this time and coupled with the non-smoking laws and increased poker machine taxes, it is also placing a very heavy burden on nearly all clubs.

Many clubs are facing a bleak future and may even struggle to survive.

The Royal New South Wales Bowling Association is well aware of the problems that are clubs facing in the state and has encouraged its Sports Development Team, along with the Club Advisory Committee, to endeavour to assist clubs where ever possible, to not only survive, but improve their current status.

The Tweed Byron District has been fortunate to be able to arrange a visit by the Sports Development Team leader, Michael Beaumont, who will be conducting a seminar for our clubs which will be held at the Ocean Shores Club next Thursday on November 6, commencing at 4.30pm.

The seminar is aimed at assisting our clubs to gain a better understanding of how to remain viable and will include tips on how to conduct club health checks, recruitment of new bowlers, retention of bowlers as club members, member protection, the in-school bowls program and the latest sports information, just to mention a few items that will be on the agenda.

There is little doubt that in the current economic climate clubs require all the assistance they can muster, and therefore this seminar is of vital importance to all clubs.

Bearing this in mind, the District has issued an invitation to club directors, presidents, secretaries, committee members, delegates, in fact anyone who have their club's future at heart to attend this 90-minute seminar and perhaps gain an insight as to just what can be achieved with a little guidance.
