Northern Rivers History
THE Northern Rivers Golf Association created a piece of history, recording its first victory in 13 years in the open division of the Interdistrict Golf Association Challenge on Sunday.
Northern Rivers proved too strong for South East Queensland and the Gold Coast divisions.
The best score for the Northern Rivers was by Damien Jordan with a well-constructed two under 70.
The NSW association also had a good win in the senior teams event, proving too strong for the other associations.
The stand-out was a great three- under 69 by Len Korn.
The Gold Coast District won in the colts and juniors divisions.
In the juniors, Dale Walker, playing in his first interdistrict team event, produced a commendable two-under 70 to clinch the win for Gold Coast.
The colts' win was a closely fought affair with the Gold Coast downing Northern Rivers by the narrowest of margins - one point.
