IT'S fast; it's furious; it's mad and exciting.

Car racing festival Speed On Tweed was held at Murwillumbah last weekend.

It's a festival for old and new race cars, but they all have one thing in common - speed.

Have you ever been in a car that can race at more than 220 km/h?

I have and it was awesome.

The car was a 30-year-old red Morgan 8, and it flies like a rocket. And its driver is pretty special, too.

Stewart Barnett is battling cancer and drove up from Canberra with his mate Laurie Burton just to be part of the festival.

"It's very emotional for me," he said.

"To have such a great friend who gave me this opportunity to drive is very special... I love this event."
