Tweed Cricketers Put the Willow Back to Work

THE LJ Hooker cricket competition gets under way today with four Tweed teams in action at home.

There is only one local derby match, and that will be at Dave Burns Field, Tweed South where South Tweed hosts Pottsville.

Last season, the young Pottsville side overcame a slow start to finish the season strongly and will be hoping to revive that run of good form against a South Tweed side looking for consistency.

Last year South Tweed struggled to put together good performances back-to-back despite having the talent in the club's line-up.

At Bilambil, Terranora Lakes will host Alstonville and the Tweed-based side is another looking to hold its form throughout the competition.

Terranora got off to a good start last year but fell away towards the back end of the season and will be determined to make Bilambil a much tougher location for visiting teams to claim points.

At Reg Dalton Oval, Kingscliff, the Cudgen players will be presented with special 'baggy green' caps by former players prior to their match against Byron Brunswick. …
