Residents Rally to Save Beloved Hall

RESIDENTS of Argents Hill, a tiny community west of Bowraville, made yet another strong representation to Nambucca Shire Council last Thursday in their bid to save their beloved hall.

The hall was deemed unsafe and closed in July. At the time the council deferred demolishing the ageing structure until the cost of either replacement or repair had been investigated.

The effervescent Barry Tasker, president of the hall's management committee, told the council all the things the committee and the community had been doing to keep the hall open.

"We've had 18 functions in the last few months, the committee is covering costs and artist Les Murdoch has donated a painting for auction," Mr Tasker said.

"We have commenced full action to raise the dollars needed and the whole community is behind us."

Hall committee treasurer, Leanne Davidson, said she was disappointed to see the item on the agenda three months sooner than the promised six month hiatus. …
