HOW do you construct the competitive undoing of surf sports superstar Shannon Eckstein this Sunday in the Ocean Assault?

Well University of Queensland engineering student Cameron Cole has a couple of days to find out.

The Mooloolaba SLSC competitor will line up with other local hope Corey Jones of Metropolitan Caloundra in final of the board race at Southport with little else than his natural talent to aid him.

But it says volumes for the 21-year-old part-time trainer that he does not see that as a problem.

"I've had a full six weeks of training now (since uni ended) and things are going well towards the build-up for the Aussie titles," Cole said from his Alexandra Headland home.

"The Ocean Assault is good to race because of the money on offer and Sunday it will come down to just one race.

"So you have to pretty much go for it out to the cans - the race is usually all but decided by then."

Cole has hardly backed off at training - with another session yesterday afternoon. …
