Irish Trophy Sealed with a Kiss Defence; League Test Star Finding Success in a Rival Code

RUGBY UNION: After four State of Origin and five Test appearances, retired Bundaberg league star Les Kiss is no stranger to big crowds

So when the Irish rugby team won union's Six Nation Trophy in a grand slam blitz before 80,000 fanatical rugby fans, Kiss, their current defensive coach, would have been right at home for the big occasion.

Kiss said that despite his big match experience as a player, it was still "edge of the seat stuff" especially at the end of the game.

"Absolutely amazing (were) the circumstances at the end of the game," he said.

"An unbelievable end to a match that put all of the coaching staff on the edge of their seats.

"And I'm very humbled at not being here 18 months yet and I've been able to be a part of all this."

Now living in Dublin, Les is in the first 12 months of a three-and-a-half year contract with Ireland.

Wife Julie, daughter Sophie and son Lachlan still live in Australia, but plan to join him soon. …
