Williams back

RUGBY UNION: It could be a historic moment but for many the return of Sonny Bill Williams will leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

The Barbarians are set to play a test in Sydney and it is likely NRL defectors Williams, Mark Gasnier and Craig Gower - all now playing club rugby in France - will be invited to play at the Sydney Football Stadium on June 6 to kick off next year's international program. It will be the first time the Barbarians have played on Australian soil.

To rub salt into NRL wounds, the match is set for the same week as league's showpiece event, State of Origin I.

Last game

FOOTBALL: Outgoing Newcastle captain Jade North admits it will be hard to walk out on the Jets while they are still fighting to keep their A-League season alive.

North will play his last game for the Jets in Friday's clash with Central Coast before linking up with K-League side Incheon United in South Korea two days later.
