RACING: IF only racecourses could talk Emerald's Pioneer Park would surely have some intriguing stories after it was jammed with a sea of vibrant racegoers at the Emerald 100 race meeting on Saturday.

On the matted green kikuyu grass track, not even the 23mm of lead-up rain (which reduced the track to a rating of slow) resulted in any mud clods being thrown-up by the cavalry of over 80 horses who chased almost $50,000 in prizemoney on offer.

Charleville trainer Shane Iverson's golden winning streak in western and southern Queensland extended to Emerald where he scored a double with Power'N'Water and Sadliers Crossing. Ridden by Rockhampton's Craig Beets, Waterford Road gelding Power'N'Water ($4.40) won the feature $15,000 Emerald 100(1850m) by 0.75 lengths from Blackall-trained Evading (David Rewald, $13.00) with Gracemere trainer Jim O'Shea's Telfire (Luke Dillon, $9.00) a half-head away third, just a nudge in front of favourite Role Of Ned. …
