GLADSTONE: When Kerry Wright self-published his work, The Mud Crab Book, little did he know it would end up in a dirty fight.

Mr Wright and his wife, under the auspices of their own publishing company Kerry Wright Publishing, launched the book, but earlier this year discovered fake copies were being sold on eBay and at various markets around the country.

Since then he has been in contact with eBay, the Queensland Police Service, The Australia Federal Police and both state and federal members of parliament Liz Cunningham and Chris Trevor in an effort to prevent further sales of the book.

So far he has had little luck.

What's more, after sending the seller a formal letter approved by the Arts Law Council of Queensland, he became the subject of an "aggressive email campaign".

The seller, who operates out of New South Wales under various guises, maintains that Mr Wright's books are not protected by copyright law and he is free to do as he chooses. …
