CYCLING: Excitement is building towards next month's Rockhampton Cup on Wheels with Anna Meares and Glenn Chadwick confirmed starters.

While Meares is "resting" with family and friends in the region, the fact she will attend the event is a massive boost for organisers.

The Rockhampton Cup on Wheels is the richest regional cycling event in Australia and the Meares family is no stranger to the Capricornia Cup with both Anna and sister Kerrie among past winners.

Having bravely fought her way back from what for many would have been a career-ending injury, Meares carried the nation with her to Beijing where she was again a medallist.

Chadwick's story is slightly different, as while he too was on the world stage at the Beijing Olympics, he was not wearing the green and gold, but sporting the Silver Fern of his native New Zealand.

Now they are planning to be back on home turf and hopefully racing in the Rockhampton Cup on Wheels Carnival on December 12 and 13 at the Kenrick Tucker Velodrome. …
