CHRISTMAS has come early for Mackay's regional SES unit.

The SES received a new Mazda BT-50 dual cab four-wheel drive yesterday donated by a partnership between the National Australia Bank (NAB), Mackay Mazda (AutoCorner) and Mackay Regional Council.

Mackay SES controller Justin Englert said the donation of the vehicle was an initiative of NAB which was willing to support the SES where possible after the February 15 flood.

"The NAB asked us what we needed and we informed them that the community and SES volunteers would benefit most if we had access to another specialist SES vehicle," Mr Englert said.

"The NAB replied with a donation of $30,000 to go towards the purchase of another vehicle for the SES. Mackay Mazda said they were happy to support the SES by providing a Mazda BT-50 at cost and supplying and fitting any extras required. Mackay Regional Council contributed to this partnership by fitting out the vehicle with the specialist equipment required by the SES and they have also agreed to take on all of the ongoing maintenance, registration and insurance costs for the duration of the vehicles service in the SES. …
