THE Slade Point mother who was killed on Saturday night was convicted of manslaughter in 2004 for stabbing her then de facto partner two years earlier.

Darlene Jean Saltner, 39, was found dead in her Pheasant Street home on Saturday night after a triple-0 call alerted emergency services to her injuries.

Six years earlier, in 2002, Ms Saltner stabbed her partner Henry George Patterson three times in the back at the couple's Yeppoon home.

Her two sons, then three and five, were believed to have been in the room when their mother repeatedly stabbed Mr Patterson.

Ms Saltner told the Supreme Court in Rockhampton in 2004 that Mr Patterson, 40, had threatened to kill one of her children and had held her at knifepoint before she was able to take the knife from him. The court was also told that the couple had a history of domestic violence.

Ms Saltner, 33 at the time, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and in 2004, after two years in custody, was sentenced to five years in prison to be wholly suspended. …
