I WORRY about the future of the human race.

Most of all, I worry about the kids who are currently in their early to mid teens.

Some of those kids are fans of High School Musical, Miley Cyrus and her alter-ego 'Hannah Montana' and even train wreck extraordinaire Britney Spears has a sister with a popular TV show.

And they all walk around with those smiles.

You know the ones.

Those awful, godless, toothy smiles.

Every problem is overcome, self-esteem is intact, no-one is rude or bullied, no-one is mean or cruel, and the biggest problems stem from a girl liking a boy.

But then he works it out and they're in love or happy or something.

Where is the angst? Where is the loathing?

Where is the general consensus that people are terrible, do terrible things, and that only the dumb are happy?

That's what we had when we were teenagers. 'Daria'.

The incredibly sharp-witted, bespectacled and plain looking brunette who spat cynicism at the cheerleader, her sporting boyfriend, her teachers and anyone else who crossed her path. …
