Teen Driver Hurt in Smash; Police Urge Motorists to Be Careful as Christmas Crackdown Begins

A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after the vehicle she was driving smashed into an embankment along the Isis Highway on Monday night.

About 7.40pm emergency services were called to the crash on the intersection of the Isis Highway and Pine Creek Road.

A Holden Barina hit the embankment, but the 18-year-old driver was not trapped in her car.

Queensland Ambulance Service operations co-ordinator Rick Tenthy said the driver was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with suspected abdominal and chest injuries.

"But she was in a stable condition," Mr Tenthy said.

Another crash, not causing any injuries, on Monday morning at the intersection of Walker and Water streets was one of six non-injury crashes that occurred.

Bundaberg Police warned that a strong police presence would be out on the district's roads and highways this Christmas.

Senior Sergeant Erwin Hoffmann was "concerned" about the amount of people caught committing traffic offences throughout the district. …
