Standing Strong at Unstable Time

AMONG the many issues we are being constantly confronted with through the various media outlets recently is the "economic meltdown".

Companies and institutions that, until recent times, gave the appearance of being strong and stable, suddenly, overnight as it were, have become very vulnerable and some have even failed.

Great international powers have recognized their own susceptibility to market forces, and governments have had to rescue large banks that once seemed secure.

Such a situation seemed so unlikely, that little, or no, preparations were made or alternatives put in place to guard against such an occurrence.

Today, governments are rushing legislation through parliaments and senates in a bid to "soften" the effect this is having on their own, as well as their people's future.

What once seemed rock solid - safe as a bank - has turned to clay and gone into free fall.

Throughout history people have endeavoured, by means of investments, savings and forward planning, to provide for their immediate, as well as expected, future needs. …
