Alison Enjoys Challenge of Coaching Role

FOOTBALL: It can be a daunting task coaching players with whom you've been a team-mate but not for Alison Peterson who is looking forward to the challenge.

"I do enjoy it because it is challenging, but I have been getting good feedback," she said.

"Everyone in the team apart from two I've played alongside.

"I've been playing for 21 years but last season I needed an ankle reconstruction."

Peterson is coaching the Bluebirds women's team in 2009 and believes she has the players to make it a good season for the club.

"Team morale is very high," she said.

Over the last four or five years Bluebirds has been one of the teams to beat but has fallen short of knocking the Nerimbera Magpies from its perch.

The new coach does not see new players as being the answer to be successful. In fact, the squad for 2009 has hardly any new players.

"Sarah Barnes (formerly Toohey) has returned as has Katrina Walker," she said. …
