Newcastle Racecourse is delighted to announce an exciting new schedule of racing and events taking place over the coming summer months that will provide great value entertainment for all those seeking a fantastic day out in North East England, from families and friends to the region's businesses. The racecourse has an actionpacked summer ahead, with highquality races running from April through to September. The highlights of our racing season are the ever-popular threeday, Northumberland Plate Festival, which begins on June 25 and Ladies Day, held on July 25. The race day experience at Newcastle Racecourse has also been enhanced for 2009, with more bars, food outlets and entertainments than ever before. The John Smith's Northumberland Plate, run on June 27, is the pinnacle of the Plate Festival and is the richest handicap race in the northern hemisphere. Over the course of the

Plate Festival and Ladies Day, more than 50,000 racegoers will attend as millions more watch on television. In excess of pounds 500,000 prize money is on offer and the racing will be of the highest quality, with the best runners and riders from across Europe on show. Newcastle Racecourse's Summer Racing Festival is one of the best-attended sporting programmes in North East England. The range of Newcastle Racecourse race events taking place throughout the summer will provide something for everyone. Family Fun Day on May 4, Bank Holiday Monday, will have children's attractions and a dedicated family picnic area. Ladies Night on May 28, with a fashion show to preview the glamour of Ladies Day, will be a glittering night out for all the girls. Racing will be followed by a live performance from the North East's Ambassador of Swing, Jason Isaacs.

During 2008 the management team conducted a full review of all our facilities and made a number of provisions based on the findings and the recommendations of our customers. As a result we have enhanced the selection of catering facilities at Newcastle Racecourse and significantly increased the number of bars and food outlets, to ensure that race goers enjoy the Summer Racing Festival in the best possible surroundings and comfort. …
