M IDDLESBROUGH will be serving up a mix of music, theatre and laughter on Thursday for One Big Night.

The event is part of the town's campaign to promote itself as a night-time destination.

Music lovers can head to Middlesbrough Town Hall to enjoy a performance from Northern Sinfonia and world-renowned composer Bernard Labadie. The concert's programme will include a mix of classical and baroque music featuring works from Haydn, Bach and Rameau.

There will be lots of laughs at Teesside University's Hot Potato Comedy Club which is launching for One Big Night.

Entry to the event, at the university's Students' Union, is pounds 5.

The comedy night is open to anyone - whether you're a student or not. For more information call 01642 342234.

Many of the town's key retailers and eateries are taking part in One Big Night.

At Mima there will be the chance to see an exclusive one-off exhibition by renowned American artist Nathan Carter and a continental market will be held in the town centre.

A little further afield, Middlesbrough Theatre, in Linthorpe, Teesside Musical Theatre Company is stating its production of Leonard Bernstein's famous musical West Side Story.

One Big Night is being organised by Middlesbrough Council and BBC Tees.
