Big Scores for First Round of Gladstone Football Season

BIG scores were the order of the day in the inaugural round of the Football Gladstone season, with Clinton running out the biggest victors.

The Clinton first division side easily accounted for Wolves 9-0 in their Saturday night clash at Wolves Park.

Several players scored multiple goals in the comfortable win.

Clinton's Capricornia Football League side overcame their first round loss to Southside with a 6-0 victory against Wolves.

Ryan Bellert was awarded man of the match for the Greens and picked up a brace for his efforts.

Matt Hills, Michael Hanson, Aaron Duffy and Shaun Petrie also made their way onto the scoresheet. Clinton coach Derek Horton said he was happy with the win but said his side could've finished better.

"Obviously I'm happy to get the points, but it was a bit scrappy," he said. The only Gladstone side to win during the first round, Central, couldn't back up their effort against Frenchville going down 3-0.

In local first division matches, reigning premiers Valleys claimed victory in their first match of the season in Biloela, winning 5-2 against Central. …
