Development Brings Job Boost; Fernvale Concretes Booming Region with Approval for New Business

FERNVALE has received another boost to complement its growing population with the approval of a new development that will bring more jobs to the region.

Somerset Regional Council has conditionally approved a concrete batching plant north of Fernvale, which will operate near the existing gravel and sand supplies business in the area.

The plant, which will be built on Powells Road, will have the capacity to produce between 50,000 to 75,000 cubic metres of concrete every year.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann welcomed the new development and praised its job potential for 11 people.

"It's definitely a positive thing for our community and it's great to see jobs being created and people not losing their jobs for a change," Cr Lehmann said.

He added that Queensland Government agencies had significant input into the development approval including environmental agencies before council decided the outcome of the application. …
