Figurines a Bargain at Auction
Byline: Kirsty Noffke
SHE may have paid the highest price for an item at the No Trash, Just Treasure auction, but Nancy Green knew she got a bargain.
Mrs Green paid $300 for a pair of Beswick horse and rider figurines at yesterday's fundraiser for the Tweed River Art Gallery in Murwillumbah.
"I absolutely got a good bargain," said Mrs Green, of Seascape Tweed Heads.
"In today's market they would be worth about $5000.
"They still have the original stickers and stamps."
The Beswick porcelain fig- urines are made by the same company as Royal Doulton, and Mrs Green said she is a collector of it all.
"I buy them because I love them," she said.
"They're just so beautiful because every piece is hand-made.
"These ones will be one each for my grand-daugh- ters, but not until they're a bit older."
Mrs Green stayed for the entire morning and even picked up a few more things.
"The auction was fabulous, absolutely wonderful," she said. …
