REGGIE PERRIN 9.30pm, BBC1 Once again, television fiddles with its glorious past and manages to transform gold into base metal. Once upon a time, there was Leonard Rossiter sinking into a quicksand of routine and mediocrity, but occasionally managing a spirited rally against the world that oppressed him. Now, we have Martin Clunes, his facial expressions in desperate search of the next gag, his character an uneasy blend of Pooter and Mitty. The jokes are simply not funny and, in terms of the office comedies of recent years, it is all so old-fashioned.
