MAN ON BOY, 13; Paedophile Jailed after Net Contact

A DANGEROUS paedophile who arranged a meeting with a child in Middlesbrough has been jailed for three years.

A judge at Teesside Crown Court said that Paul Rhodes, 26, posed a serious risk to children now and in the future.

Rhodes contacted the vulnerable 13-year-old boy on a website aimed at young gay people and emailed him indecent photographs of himself, said prosecutor Christopher Knox.

He arranged two meetings with him at a Middlesbrough cinema and a country spot at Ormesby, but the youngster turned down the invitations.

The boy's mother found the photographs, and called police, who found that Rhodes had been in jail for making indecent photographs of children, added Mr Knox.

Ian West, defending, said that the boy had willingly corresponded with Rhodes before deciding not to go ahead with the meetings.

Judge Michael Taylor told Rhodes: "You preyed on him and took advantage of him.

"You have previously been jailed for making indecent photographs of children, and you accessed an internet site where children would be corresponding with people like you, and you exchanged messages over a period of time with the boy.

"That corrupted that young boy, and since those events he has suffered terribly as a result of that. …
