Lower Clarence Magpies Tackle Domestic Violence

ON the back of all three teams winning their matches on home turf yesterday, Lower Clarence Magpies Rugby League Club is also one step closer to winning the hearts of the community with the official launch of an anti-domestic violence campaign, Tackling Violence.

In launching the campaign, NSW Community Services Minister Linda Burney said: "The Magpie club and players can be proud of what they have started here today. I am confident they will make a real difference to the safety and stability of local families."

Local and national dignitaries attending the launch included Magpies president Garry Anderson, Yaegl elder Aunty Lillian Williams, Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr, league greats Larry Corowa and Ricky Walford, Country Rugby League regional manager Kevin Hill, NRRRL president Robin Harley, Clarence Mayor Richie Williamson and Cr Margaret McKenna.

In accepting responsibility for the project, the three Magpies senior grades are committed to being role models for the campaign and will now wear Let's Tackle Domestic Violence logos on their new club jerseys. …
