A BAND of big-hearted students have taken time out from their studies to lend their support to a national cancer charity campaign.

Health and social care students at Prior Pursglove College in Guisborough got together to raise money for Marie Curie's 'Daffodil' appeal.

And the team's hard work has resulted in them raising a whopping pounds 1,300 for the charity.

Health and social care teacher, Jill Woodrow, said: "I'm absolutely delighted with how it has gone.

"I'm very proud of the students and how hard they have worked." The students decided to back the charity campaign after an inspiring talk from Marie Curie nurse, Elsa Taylor, who provided them with an insight into her job as part of their studies.

After hearing details of the work carried out by the charity, they completed a variety of fundraising activities, including bag packing, a street collection selling pin badges, and a name the bear competition.

They also organised a raffle of flower arrangements donated by Askham Bryan, and one student even baked a selection of treats to sell. …
