WITH the help of their environmentally-conscious audience members, Splendour in the Grass has become a leader in tackling carbon emissions in the Australian music festival scene. The internal emissions associated with producing the festival are calculated and offset through the purchase of renewable wind farm carbon credits. Likewise their green savvy punters are also given the opportunity to offset their average daily emissions while at the event by purchasing a carbon offset ticket.

Last year many audience members put their money where their mouth was by purchasing a carbon offset ticket. A total of 4091 carbon offset tickets were sold which resulted in the following statistics:

* Over 630 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were offset through the investment in renewable, clean, wind farm energy.

* A total of $28,637 was invested in renewable, clean, wind farm energy generation.

* Emissions offset were equivalent to taking 175 family sedans off the road for an entire year, or powering 78 homes for an entire year.

This year the Splendour in the Grass carbon offset ticket again allows patrons to offset their average carbon emissions over a 48-hour period. …
