North Coast Free of Swine Flu - So Far

THE North Coast is one of the only areas of New South Wales that remained free of suspected swine flu cases yesterday.

According to the Department of Health, testing was yesterday being done on 85 people throughout NSW.

As of last night, none of those cases had been confirmed.

The department emphasised that although those people met the definition of a suspected case of swine influenza, there were still no actual cases in the State.

NSW Minister of Health John Della Bosca said the Government was doing what it could to prevent swine flu from coming into Australia.

Thermal imaging scanners were introduced to Sydney International Airport yesterday to check that passengers arriving from overseas were not harbouring the virus.

"Sydney is the gateway to Australia, the country's busiest airport, but it is the best prepared to deal with any suspected cases of swine flu," he said.

Mr Della Bosca said a team of nurses, doctors and public health officials had been set up at the airport. …
