THE givers in 1000 families came together on the Sunshine Coast yesterday to get a little back.

Women from throughout Queensland converged on the Suncoast Christian Church at Woombye for the 4HER conference, a two-day event aimed at empowering women in their careers, families and friendships.

Spokeswoman Sarah Gullo said the busy pace of modern living left little time for women to get together for "girl talk" and nourish each other.

"Women love the opportunity to come and spend these two days with friends in a non-threatening atmosphere, where we can really bond, empower each other and talk about how to do life best," Ms Gullo said. The annual conference, which is in its ninth year, kicks off a nationwide series that will take place in very state, bar Western Australia, in the next two months.

The conference opened on Thursday night and will close this afternoon.

Guest speakers include businesswoman, entrepreneur and missionary Jackie Harland, from the United Kingdom; Buderim-based psychologist Dr Robi Sonderegger, who is passionate about helping child soldiers and communities decimated by civil water in Africa; and 4HER national conference coordinator Tricia McDonald. …
