Delayed Start but Rocky Hopes High

HOCKEY: With only four weeks left before the Queensland Open Women's Hockey Championship, coach Tracy Doble is gearing up and getting the team ready for what will no doubt be a tough tournament.

It has been hard getting enough players this year, but things are looking up for the team as they are awaiting confirmation from several players from outside Rockhampton.

"There are some people who are not confirmed, but that should be done by the weekend. All up, we have about 14 players." Doble said.

The late start has meant training has been delayed, but so far the team is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with.

"On paper, the team looks very good. Most of the girls have returned from last year," Doble said.

At last year's championship, the team achieved a 5th placing which is the highest the Rockhampton team has achieved since being knocked out of the Premier League and Doble is extremely confident that the girls can improve on that placing yet again. …
