A CHEERLEADING team aims to have something to shout about as it celebrates its first year together.

The Pumas of Guisborough will be in Manchester on Saturday to compete in the National Cheerleading Championships.

And if the 55 youngsters aged four to 18 do well at the Manchester Velodrome, it could be the first step on the road to Europe.

The youngsters are led by Puma group founder Tara-Jane Jemson.

Having personally competed in two European Championships, she has high hopes for her teams.

She said: "Manchester is the first basic-level competition, after which successful teams will go into club level and if they win that, they get a bid to Europe. Our routines are a mix of tumbling, stunting, chanting, dancing and cheer jumps." The girls come from across Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough.

Five Puma teams will be competing -

Tara- Jane was bitten by the Puma Rockstars, Police, Spirit, Dynamite and Allstars. …
