CHAMPIONS Chester-le-Street look to be as strong as ever, starting their campaign with a comprehensive 82-run win over Boldon.

The victory was set up by Jack Harrison (57no) and Chris Martin (40no) who shared in a 90-run thirdwicket stand to power the Cestrians to a score of 141-2.

After this, it was damage limitation for Boldon as they finished on 59-8 in reply, Michael Oughton the leading bowler with 2-1 from his four overs.

Durham City shared the honours around as they overcame visitors Sunderland by nine wickets.

Andrew Howson (3-10) and Dillon Shogren (3-14) combined to dismiss the Wearsiders for 86.

It was then over to William Dobson (48no) and Jonny Harding (30no) to complete the job with an unbroken second-wicket stand of 77.

South Shields, last year's runnersup, went down by nine wickets at Eppleton.
