Glee captain Cassie Douglas continually outpaced the Alstonville defence and earned several penalty corners but her team failed to capitalise in the first half.

Alstonville played with plenty of commitment, marking one-on-one and not giving the Glee forwards any room to move.

Glee's Nicole Danvers opened the scoring for Glee well into the sec-ond half.

Leonard was exceptional in goals for Alstonville and Leearn Finnie, Debbie Bruggy and Sharon Foster did well in defence for Alstonville.

Easts' Kate Baird and Mia Verrier were tireless and Sammy Jo Johnson was a standout in goals. Brooke Riley scored the only Easts goal at the final whistle.

Northern Star faced last year's premiers Labrador who were too skilful and too quick, the score running out to 10-0.

Ballina, meantime, faced a more organised and disciplined Griffith Uni team on the Gold Coast and were in it with just 10 minutes to go before losing 5-1. …
