THE amalgamation of Boyne Medical and the Tannum Family Practice will mean improved service for local residents in a well equipped and fully accredited surgery.

Practice medical director Dr Pieter Van Dyke said a team of five doctors, four nursing staff and six receptionists, would deliver a stronger and better service from Tannum Family Practice located at Shop 1, Tannum Central.

"We wanted to make the practice more cost effective by bringing all our staff under one roof," Dr Van Dyke said.

"The practice is extremely well equipped and the staff are trained to do a top job."

The special interests of practising doctors cover the gamut of health issues from women, children and family health to a focus on asthma and diabetes treatment, spiritual health and preventative medicine.

Dr Van Dyke said the practice was also fully accredited, meeting 15 standards of quality care.

"As a sign of its commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care, this practice has been independently assessed against standards developed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in consultation with general practitioners, consumer groups and community organisations," Dr Van Dyke said.

"GPA Accreditation Plus is the first and only program for general practice assessed and accredited by Joint Accreditation Systems of Australia and New Zealand.

"The commonwealth government supports the accreditation of Australian General Practice. …
