GEORDIE Lawrence Osueke is to win his first England vest after his superb showing in the ABA Senior Championships.

Osueke, who fights at 81kgs, is to represent his country in a Three Nations competition at Liverpool on May 28 and 29.

The Northumbria ABC fighter stormed through to the ABA finals in London at the first time of asking to catch the attention of the England selectors.

Trained by his uncle Manny Burgo in Newcastle, Osueke only lost out to Lynn's Obed Mbwakongo at the very last hurdle, having beaten the highly-fancied Michael Fielding and Anthony Johnson.

A stylish boxer with a good jab, Lawrence has been in the gym for less than two years, but looks an accomplished performer who has boxed abroad in places like Hamburg and San Francisco.

Osueke's Northumbria stable mate Cash Hussein goes for his moment of national glory in the ABA Junior Championships finals at the Everton Park Sports Centre on May 30 and 31.
