HUNDREDS of people across County Durham are being invited to apply for a place on their local Area Action Partnership Board.

More than 600 people who expressed an interest in joining the boards will receive an application pack from Durham County Council through the letterbox over the next few days.

They were among 1,700 people who attended launch events for the 14 Area Action Partnerships (AAPs) in County Durham.

The meetings took place during April and earlier this month.

Organisers were surprised by the amount of interest and, in some areas, additional AAP launch events had to be held to give all those who were interested the chance to attend. And of the 1,700 people who did attend, more than a third expressed an interest in joining their AAP board and more than 80% said they felt positive that their participation could help to shape the work and priorities of the partnerships.

Successful candidates who make it onto the boards will play a key role in ensuring action is taken on local issues and priorities. …
