Follett Replaces Life Member as Norths Coach

IPSWICH hockey all-rounder Wayne Follett has added the Norths A-grade men's coaching job to his busy portfolio.

Follett, an umpire and representative veteran's player, is already coaching a Reserve grade women's team, a junior boys combination and the Ipswich open men's side preparing for their championships in Townsville next month.

Follett (pictured) accepted the Norths position after former mentor and Norths life member Kel Iszlaub stood aside due to "club issues".

"I wasn't happy with a few things going on with the club," Iszlaub said, reluctant to inflame the situation.

"I'm proud of my life membership. It's just unfortunate a few things came to a head."

Iszlaub watched Saturday's entertaining 3-3 draw between Norths and Wests from the opposite side of the field to his usual spot in the dugout.

Standing under an umbrella, he cheered on his former team as they played in the rain.

"It's a shame," Iszlaub said, having enjoyed a 30-year association with the club. …
