LONDON could witness a cycling revolution this summer, with a series of events aimed at getting more people to ditch their cars.

Freewheel, a mass cycling event held in central London, will be expanded, and for the first time a local version will be held in Hounslow.

A campaign called "catch up with the bicycle" will see billboards throughout the capital. Workplaces and schools will compete against each other to see how many people they can encourage to use bikes for their ride to work.

The events are part of Boris Johnson's cycling strategy, in which the Mayor will invest [pounds sterling]111 million this year. …
