A 25-year-old drug addict convicted of driving while disqualified for the third time in two years was sentenced to a four-month suspended jail term.

Ian Richard Rolingson appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to disqualified driving, making unnecessary noise, obstructing police, being a public nuisance and breaching a probation order.

The court heard Rolingson was intercepted by Gladstone police on January 13 after they heard his screeching tyres.

Checks revealed he had been disqualified from driving in June 2008 for a period of two-and-a-half years.

The obstructing police and public nuisance charges related to another incident on September 29 last year when Rolingson was charged with the serious assault of two police officers. The assault charges had already been dealt with in the District Court and no further punishment was imposed on the two lesser charges.

At the time of the assault Rolingson was on probation for previous convictions of wilful damage and stealing. …
