VETERAN sprinter Brother Tom returned to his best form with a solid win in the Richmond Bakery stake at Casino last Friday.

The rising four-year-old gave his younger rivals plenty of cheek when he flew out of the traps to take up the running at the first bend. He got a good break at that point and although challenged by Spin Me Round near home he had had enough in hand to win by a neck in a handy 23.30 seconds.

Genista Reign looked the best placed greyhound all day, however, and he was able to salute but not before some anxious moments for his supporters.

Having his first run over the longer journey of 620 metres, he was expected to be in the leading division, but when the field settled down he was back near the tail. Railing well past the winning post the first time he was able to make up plenty of ground, but as they went down the back he was still a long way off the leader Ann's Princess.

Sprouting wings as they turned for home, Genista Reign was able to grab the front, and so fast did he finish that he won by two lengths. …
