PICKING a winner at the Weetwood/Toowoomba Cup Carnival will be a gamble.

But here is one certainty.

This year Weetwood is July 11, the middle of a Toowoomba winter, and it is going to be cold.

Never fear, this is fantastic news for your Weetwood outfit.

Think tailored, layers, stockings, gloves and gorgeous felt hats.

Stradbroke Day at Brisbane last weekend was the perfect chance to preview winter race-wear fashion before our own big event.

This season racing fashion is about elegance and glamour while giving a nod to the past.

Stylish berets, cute cloches and small felt hats were popular. This nostalgic look was complemented by little feminine gloves.

Black was the colour of the day with splashes of ivory, vivid purple, fuchsia and deep red.

Don't let the colder weather turn you away from a day at the races, there's never been a better time to return to classic race wear and really embrace the tradition of racing fashion.

The Weetwood/Toowoomba Cup carnival next month is the perfect opportunity to put together a classic outfit with a mixture of timeless, investment pieces while making the most of accessories to give your outfit the seasonal edge - have fun with your hat or fascinator (remember when it comes to hats, felt is for autumn and winter, save your straw hats for spring), handbag, shoes and gloves to create the complete race day outfit.
