Hornets Plan to Give Rivals the Runaround

ON paper the Cudgen Hornets face an up-hill battle against league leaders Lower Clarence at Ned Byrne Oval this evening, but coach Con Theodossiou believes his men are more than up to the task.

An impressive start to their Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League campaign has Cudgen spearheading the Tweed's charge in seventh spot with four wins and three losses to date.

A comprehensive 22-point victory over Kyogle last outing was perhaps their most convincing performance this season under Theodossiou, and he's confident the Hornets pack enough sting to scalp the competition power houses on home soil.

"We played really well last week and I'm pretty confident we can keep it going this week," he said.

"We'll be slightly undermanned this week, but we've had some great training runs and I'm confident that the guys coming in can definitely do the job."

However Lower Clarence have suffered just one defeat and boast an unprecedented positive points differential of 150, 80 better than their closest rival. …
