Gold-Medalist Davis to Speak in Brunswick

Article excerpt

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Five-time Olympic medalist Josh Davis will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes fundraiser at College Place United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

Davis was the only male in any sport to win three gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. He also was captain of the U.S. men's swim team for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where he won two silver medals.

He set U.S. records three times in the 200-meter freestyle and is now an ambassador for swimming and a Christian motivational speaker.

"We are excited to bring Josh to the Golden Isles," said David O'Quinn, an FCA of Southeast Coastal Georgia board member. "As an Olympic champion he will provide unique insight into how to be a winner in and out of the pool."

Prior to the barbecue-themed banquet, Davis will attend a reception for corporate sponsors at the church.

The banquet is free and open to the public, but reservations are required and may be made by calling the offices of the FCA of Southeast Coastal Georgia. …
